Skyfire 2.0

Sunday, September 5th, 2010

Apple have always had issues with Adobe’s Flash player and have completely denied it from being usable on their iOS operating system. Many people have longed for Apple to stop this ridiculous ban but they have no seen reason yet.

freebiejeebies are excited to hear the news of Skyfire verison 2.0 being released on the iPhone, allowing users to finally have at least some Flash capabilities on their phones. In a noble up yours to Apple’s anti-competative behaviour, the company behind Skyfire have come up with a solution which in no way violates the app store’s terms and conditions.

Of course, due to the techniques that Skyfire were able to use being heavily limited by Apple, implementation of Flash media is not flawless, only working with videos and nothing else. Flash videos must also be played in a separate window and cannot be viewed as an embedded item as the chosen website’s developer would have intended.
